Welcome to my little corner of the interwebs! On this site I'm sharing four different parts of me!
I've swum on and off my whole life. But, it wasn't until 2012 that I became a swimmer. I began hitting the pool consistently to get into shape and found that swimming gave me so much more-joy, health, focus. At the suggestion of a friend, I signed up for an open water swim. I came out of water smiling and knew that I had found something special. On this blog, I share what I'm learning about swimming--everything from training and gear, to the science of swim and dream pools.
I like to explore. Preferably on foot, often alone. Cities are fascinating, but my true love is nature. I'm not a skilled photographer-I only use an iPhone camera-but sometimes I capture something that I really like. When I do, I'll share it in this section.
I love to learn about and celebrate what's funny, surprising, and amazing about the world. Here's a place where I'll share what I'm learning and loving--photos, podcasts, articles, anything!
I'm fighting to create opportunity for all people in the United State. There are a lot of ways to try and achieve this. My focus is on “hacking” the culture of social change practitioners and funders. If we are going to find real solutions to our seemingly most intractable problems , those of us who spend our working hours trying to "do good" need to work differently. I'm particularly interested in systems change, cross-sector partnerships, collective impact, adaptive leadership, lean startup (and lean impact), knowledge, and developmental evaluation. In this section, I'm sharing some of what I've been doing.
